Job description

Groundskeeper
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Groundskeeper to help maintain and improve the appearances of our properties. The primary focus of this position will be landscaping, such as our lawns, plantings, and trees, as well as the hardscaping including walk paths, parking areas, curbs, and roads. To be successful in this role, you will ensure the grounds are always at their best – both visually and operatively, while maintaining essential equipment.
Duties
  • Daily Work Execution: Completes daily workflows as assigned to perform seasonal maintenance responsibilities, repairs, service requests, capital improvements and other duties, as assigned.
  • Exterior Maintenance amp; Landscaping: Performs exterior maintenance and landscaping tasks including lawncare, pruning shrubs and trees, weeding, insect control and removal of clippings.
  • Grounds Cleanliness: Keeps grounds free from trash, litter and debris.
  • Snow amp; Ice Management: Address snow and ice removal on sidewalks, parking areas and roads with use of shovels, snow blowers, plows, and other equipment.
  • Structural Restoration: Performs repairs as needed on sidewalks, curbs, fencing, and drainage areas. Also, able to remove damaged trees and shrubs, as well as plant replacements.
  • Preventative Landscaping Treatments: Performs preventative maintenance including the utilization of insecticides, fertilizers, and treatments of landscaping for diseases.
  • Safety Compliance: Follows all safety guidelines for the operation of equipment and use of product applications.
  • Property Awareness amp; Recommendations: Maintains constant awareness while on owned and managed properties to make immediate improvements as required. Makes recommendations to improve the overall appearance, efficiency amp; effectiveness at the properties to help achieve company and community goals.
  • All Weather Responsiveness: Able to work outdoors throughout all seasons and weather conditions and respond to weather amp; emergency situations at residential and commercial properties.
You Have
  • Experience: 2+ years’ experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a similar role.
  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
You Might Also Have
  • Certification: NYS DEC Pesticide Applicator\Technician Certification.
  • Technical Skills: Experience amp; knowledge of exterior maintenance and landscaping techniques as well as horticultural knowledge.
  • Equipment Skills: Experience operating lawn equipment, snow removal equipment and tools of the trade.
You Should Be Able To
  • Life amp; Carry: Frequently lift, move, or carry items weighing 50+ pounds.
  • Maneuver Properties: Move about properties often including ascending/descending of stairs and ladders.
  • Be Flexible amp; Mobile: Bend, squat, kneel, twist and walk for periods of time while inspecting/addressing properties or equipment.
  • Operate Devices: Frequently operate electronic devices, as well as communicate with tenants, vendors, and colleagues, and able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Inspect Projects: Observe, inspect, and assess maintenance projects which includes travel to and from property locations on a regular basis.
