Job Description

New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center (NYPCC) is seeking aย Medicalย Directorย to provide clinical leadership and psychiatric oversight across ourย Articleย 31 outpatient mental health clinicsย locatedย in the Bronx, Bushwick, East New York and Jackson Heights.

This role combinesย direct patient care with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health services in compliance withย the Newย York State Office of Mental Health (OMH).

Theย Medicalย Directorย will superviseย prescribers, support interdisciplinary care, and collaborate with executive leadership to advance clinical quality and program development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provideย medicalย oversight for psychiatric services across outpatientย clinics
  • Supervise and mentor psychiatrists and psychiatric nurseย practitioners
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and treatmentย planning
  • Ensure compliance with OMH regulations and clinicalย standards
  • Participate in quality assurance, risk management, and performance improvementย initiatives
  • Monitor prescribing practices and support safe medicationย management
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership on program development and strategicย initiatives
  • Support interdisciplinary care coordination andย participateย in caseย conferences
Qualifications
  • M.D.ย from an accreditedย medicalย school
  • Active and unrestricted New York State physician license
  • Board-certificationย inย Child and Adolescentย Psychiatryย preferredย 
  • Activeย DEA registration
  • Minimumย 3 years of psychiatric clinical experience, preferably inย anย outpatient settingย 
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in behavioral health settings
  • Experience withย OMH Article 31 clinicsย and regulatory standards
  • Familiarity withย Medicaid/Medicare and value-based care models
  • Experience working withย serious mental illnessย populations

Additional Information

Reporting Structure:

Theย Medicalย Directorย reports to theย Chief Executiveย Officerย and Vice President, Chief Clinical Officerย and works closely with clinical and program leadership.
