Who We're Looking For: A motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and adapts well to change. Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision, learn quickly, and possess excellent problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Education: College degree in a Science-related field preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years in the industry
  • Skills: Excellent communication, attention to detail, strong knowledge of regulations, thoroughness, critical thinking, client management, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Certifications:
    • Asbestos: Current NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator license
    • Current NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector Certification
    • Additional certifications like CHMM, 40 Hour HAZWOPER, 10/30 Hour Construction Safety, and CIE/CMI are desirable but not required.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Mastery of the English language - written and spoken.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings to assess project scope and identify affected asbestos-containing materials.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Reliable transportation.
    • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to occasionally work at heights greater than 6 feet (examples: ladders, rooftops, man-lifts, scaffolding).
    • Ability to occasionally work in confined spaces (examples: crawlspaces, attics).
    • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Must be able to walk up/down multiple flights of stairs.
    • Ability to complete all mandatory trainings, including safety training.
    • Availability for off-hour emergency work.
    • Respond as a member of the Hillmann 24-hour disaster response team.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct investigations, develop remediation plans, and report findings and results in accordance with regulations and applicable industry guidelines
  • Collect air samples during asbestos abatement work to verify compliance with local, state and Federal regulations including background, daily and clearance air monitoring; accurately completing project records, log books and chain of custody forms; and timely submission of samples and required project documentation.
  • Perform air and bulk sampling according to EPA, OSHA, NIOSH, and industry analytical methods
  • Perform comprehensive asbestos containing material surveys
  • Perform employee exposure monitoring for various environmental hazards
  • Generate remediation scope of work plans based on inspections
  • Obtain and maintain applicable certifications and licenses
  • Respond to client emergencies during normal business and off-peak hours as necessary
  • Respond as a member of the Hillmann 24-hour disaster response team and on call schedule
