Job description

Position Summary:
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (also known as WIC) provides nutritious foods including low-fat/fat-free milk, whole grains, vegetables and fruits, breastfeeding support or formula to low income pregnant or breastfeeding women, infants and children up to age five.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • 0-1 direct years of experience working in a WIC Program highly preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work with families & Children.

Key Duties:
  • Determines categorical residential and income eligibility for participants.
  • Completes on-site anthropometric and hematological screening when needed.
  • Answers phones, schedules appointment, and other administrative support duties as assigned.
  • Attends trainings and travels to other WIC sites when needed.
  • Completes data entry into the NYWIC system.
  • Supports the principles and guidelines of the WIC program.

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:

The Bronx, Hybrid, In office 3 days and 2 remote days changes based on department's scheduling needs, Monday, Tuesday and Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Wednesday & Thursday 8am-6pm (rotating shift), Saturday 8:30am-1pm (rotating shift).


Although the role is hybrid, incumbents should expect the first 2-3 months of training to occur fully onsite in the Bronx.

Starting Compensation: Minimum: $35,000.00 yearly; Maximum: $35,000.00 yearly
