Job description

Position title: Maintenance Technician I
Company: Catalyst Nutraceuticals
Reports to: Lead Mechanic/ Plant Engineer
Department : Maintenance
FLSA Classification : Non-Exempt
Basic Function: The Maintenance Technician I supports the smooth operation of a food manufacturing facility by performing routine maintenance tasks on equipment and machinery. This entry-level position focuses on preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and supporting senior technicians to ensure maximum equipment efficiency while adhering to all safety and food quality standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM):
    • Perform basic scheduled preventative maintenance on production machinery.
    • Follow maintenance schedules to ensure minimal disruption to production.

  • Minor Repairs:
    • Assist with diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues under the supervision of senior technicians.
    • Replace or adjust basic parts.

  • Equipment Support:
    • Assist in setting up and adjusting equipment to meet production needs.
    • Test machinery after repairs or adjustments to ensure proper function.

  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to all safety policies and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
    • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and ensure all work complies with food safety standards.
    • Participate safety training sessions and report any hazards to the Lead Mechanic.

  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Accurately record all maintenance tasks and repairs in the Computerized Maintenace Management System (MaintainX)

  • Support to Senior Technicians:
    • Work alongside senior technicians to learn advanced maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Provide support during equipment breakdowns or upgrades as needed.

  • Inventory Control:
    • Assist in monitoring spare parts inventory and tools to ensure they are available for maintenance tasks.
    • Report low stock levels to Lead Mechanic/Maintenance Planner

Qualifications:
  • Education- High school Diploma or GED required. Vocational Training or technical certification in maintenance or related field is a plus.
  • Experience- 1 year of experience in mechanical or maintenance field, preferably in a food manufacturing environment

Skills:
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • A willingness to learn and grow technical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and work order processing.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in varying environments (cold, hot, wet, noisy, dusty)
  • Available for overtime work, weekends and on-call as required

Work Schedule:
  • Full-time: shift work may be required (including nights and weekends
