Controls Electrician - Flour Mill– Buffalo, NY:

Controls Electricians are responsible for supporting, creating, integration, troubleshooting and improving a variety of processing/packaging controls systems including Wonderware, and PLC.

Shift hours:

  • 8-hour shift - shift schedule rotation every 5th week
    • 1st shift: 7 am to 3 pm
    • 2nd shift: 3 pm to 11 pm
    • Every 5th week shift rotation from 1st shift to 1 week on 2nd shift (may be longer, if needed)
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days per week

Pay:

  • $37.87 - $43.75 (Based on level of competency)
    • Additional $.34 per hour for hours worked on 2nd shift
    • Additional $.41 per hour for hours worked on 3rd shift
    • Opportunities to increase pay with internal trainings, determined by maintenance leadership team
  • Overtime pay
    • Time worked after 8 hours of work is paid at 1.5 times regular rate of pay
    • Time worked on Saturday is paid at 1.5 times regular rate of pay
    • Time worked on Sunday is paid at 2 times (double pay) regular rate of pay

    • Supporting, creating, integration, troubleshooting and improving a variety of processing/packaging controls systems including Wonderware, and PLC.
    • Reading and updating electrical and control schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams
    • Providing technical support/skills for equipment troubleshooting and controls/equipment modifications
    • Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment/components
    • Performing both uptime and downtime preventative electrical maintenance
    • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
    • Assist in training new employees

What you have to offer:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years (minimum) of industrial electrical maintenance experience, including machine repair and troubleshooting
  • Must be recognized a Controls Technician by General Mills Buffalo Standards
  • Electronic knowledge with 480v industrial wiring and troubleshooting experience
  • PLC programming, troubleshooting and instrumentation
  • Experience with AB PLC platforms; Servo Control Systems; Robotic Controls Systems
  • HMI experience, Wonderware or Rockwell Panelview preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
