Job description

Position Title:

Simulation Lab Coordinator

Reports To:

Director of Nursing

Position Status:

Part-Time, 10 months, approximately 20-25 hours per week, 975 annual hours, Flexible/Alternative Schedule, Distribution of hours based on institutional needs

Position Description:

This position is responsible for establishing and promoting a simulation-based learning environment for students. The role will work with Nursing faculty and staff to implement the use of simulation experiences. This position will operate and maintain all simulation technology equipment in Nursing. Equipment includes but is not limited to patient simulator manikins, video recording technology, and state of the art simulation devices.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and administer meaningful learning experiences, including but not limited to course labs, clinical skill practice labs, skill competency testing sessions, and other faculty-identified simulated lab learning experiences, to multiple disciplines at both the Alpena and Oscoda campuses.
  2. Operate simulation equipment and ancillary equipment.
  3. Perform all pre-briefing and debriefing simulation activities and train faculty on high fidelity simulation methodologies.
  4. Assure simulation equipment is functioning properly and make the necessary referrals to assure equipment is maintained to prolong useful equipment life expectancy. Manage technology maintenance agreements.
  5. Collaborate with faculty on the development of simulated case scenarios to assure currency in practice.
  6. Provide structured learning sessions, in collaboration with faculty, to meet the learning needs of students, especially in areas that will help facilitate student competency and success.
  7. Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise with the simulation equipment and contacts/coordinates with manufacturer about any issues.
  8. Attend simulation technology training sessions and/or conferences – both online and in-person.
  9. Conduct tours of the simulation/lab area as requested by the Foundation, Admissions, etc.
  10. Obtain, stock, and restock supplies for each room. Monitor supply levels and orders supplies in a timely fashion to ensure uninterrupted learning.
  11. Work with the Nursing Program Coordinator with ACEMAP to ensure all nursing students complete the required clinical/lab requirements.
  12. Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required.
  13. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
