Position Overview

As an Oncology/Hematology Registered Nurse at FCCP, you will play a pivotal role in our patients' treatment journeys. You will combine high-level clinical skill with deep emotional intelligence, serving as a primary point of contact, educator, and advocate for patients and their families during a vulnerable time in their lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Holistic Patient Assessment: Evaluate patients thoroughly and assist with developing personalized plans of care tailored to each individual’s unique diagnosis and needs.
  • Treatment Administration: Safely and accurately administer medications, chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other treatments as directed by medical oncologists and providers.
  • Vigilant Monitoring: Observe, record, and report changes in patient conditions promptly to ensure swift, proactive medical intervention.
  • Patient & Family Education: Empower patients and their loved ones with clear information regarding their disease, treatment protocols, medication management, home care, and community resources.
  • Psychosocial Support: Provide a safe, judgment-free space for patients to express fears and concerns. Deliver robust emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers throughout the continuum of care.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (associate or bachelor’s degree). New graduates are highly encouraged to apply!
  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).
  • Certifications: BLS/ACLS required. ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate is a major plus (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Oncology Certified Nurse OCN is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a high level of empathy and emotional resilience.
