Job description

Program: CORT MAT / Outpatient provider/ Detox Night shift Residential services

This program in partnership with Sarasota County Corrections and Lightshare Wellness will provide a 40 bed secure residential behavioral health treatment for male offenders who are currently incarcerated in the Sarasota County Corrections Facility. We are looking for night shift as well as day shift .

The program will offer intensive supervision and evidenced-based rehabilitation to felony offenders up to 120 days who are incarcerated and awaiting sentencing as well as those who are directly sentenced to the program to serve out the remainder of their sentence.

The overall goal is to provide treatment in a secure setting with a focus on substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, change the client’s criminal thinking patterns, stabilize their substance use and/or mental illness, and assist in the transition into the community through vocational training and peer support.


Position Summary: Promotes client’s health by completing the nursing process; collaborating/consulting with Physicians, Director of Nursing, and multidisciplinary team members.

Educational Requirements: Current Florida licensure as a Registered Nurse (preferred) or as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Special Skills: General nursing experience in mental health, substance misuse and co-occurring behavioral health disorders; strong interpersonal communication skills and professional boundaries to provide excellent internal and external customer service.

Position Duties:

1. Identifies client care needs by performing nursing assessments and by establishing a rapport with potential and actual clients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements. Communicates and consults with a multi-disciplinary team of medical, clinical and allied professionals regarding client medical clearance issues.

2. Establishes an empathetic environment by providing emotional and psychological support to clients being assessed for admission and throughout their course of treatment.

3. Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against client care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following nursing philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, State Nurse Practice Act, FL DCF Chapter 65D-30 and other governing agency regulations.

4. Protects prospective and current clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols and provides training as needed.

5. Performs client medication administration and medication storage procedures as per protocols when indicated.

6. Adheres to controlled substance regulations regarding client medications as indicated.

7. Ability to perform venipunctures as mandated by statutes.

8. Documents client care services by charting in client and department records; accurately completes required paperwork procedures to ensure compliance to quality care.

9. Establishes and maintains customer rapport by keeping information confidential; following established confidentiality policy and procedures.

10. Displays a high level of professional ethics, boundaries, and clinical expertise with complex needs populations.

11. Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering an environment of cooperative care.

12. High regard for teamwork and flexibility to assist all residential programs in training and triaging medical emergencies as needed.

13. Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
