Job description

Mid-level, specialized technical work reviewing various types of development plans and permit applications. Independently performs reviews of the full range of development plans and permit applications to ensure they are in compliance with the Unified Land Development Code (ULDC) and the Zoning Technical Manual. Independently performs onsite field inspections in compliance with permit approvals. Possesses considerable knowledge of the full range of development plans and permit applications and works independently on technical matters within the scope of professional landscaping material, Florida native species, and installation methods and procedures. Work also involves analyzing landscape plans and landscape field installation based upon their compliance with stated code requirements and County regulations, policies, and guidelines. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior and reviewed through the observation of the efficiency of staff performance factors, which include but are not limited to: Job knowledge; decision making; analytical thought processing; productivity and reliability; and oral and written communication.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
• A Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Design, Geography, or closely related field; minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Landscape Contractor, Nursery Manager, Forester, or Arborist ,
OR
• An unrelated Bachelor's Degree; minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Landscape Contractor, Nursery Manager, Forester, or Arborist ,
OR
• An Associate's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Design, Geography, or closely related field; minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Landscape Contractor, Nursery Manager, Forester, or Arborist ,
OR
• Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification ; minimum of six (6) years of experience as a Landscape Contractor, Nursery Manager, Forester, or Arborist .
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
• Experience applying and enforcing the ULDC through the review of building permit applications,
• Experience identifying, organizing, and analyzing information related to grading, civil, landscape construction plans, and zoning site plans,
• Experience identifying, organizing, and analyzing information related to planning and zoning applications, and formulating substantive recommendations to supervisors,
• Experience effectively coordinating with other staff and related agencies,
• Experience expressing concepts clearly and concisely through graphic, oral, and written communication, and
• International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist Certification.
