Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager leads a team of care providers in assigned operating room (OR) areas, cultivating collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. Responsibilities include providing patient care, supportive services, achieving positive patient outcomes, maximizing patient involvement in care plans, improving service levels, reducing hospitalization length, and decreasing costs. Under the Nurse Manager's leadership, patients and families benefit from integrated care team skills.

The Nurse Manager holds 24-hour responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating patient care operations in designated OR areas. Key duties involve operationalizing the health system's mission, values, and goals to support the nursing professional practice model. The role includes managing, guiding, coaching, and evaluating patient care staff performance, ensuring collaboration with related departments. Decision-making occurs within unit needs scope, independently or with division director or physician leads. Occasional direct patient care and access to confidential information are required. Reports to the Director of the assigned division.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required (must enroll within 12 months and complete within 36 months if not held). Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing.

  • Certifications/Licenses: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; department-specific certifications; BLS/ACLS within 90 days of hire; specialty certifications within 36 months; de-escalation training within 6 months.

  • Experience: Previous management/leadership experience; related work experience in operating room (OR); at least 3 years of OR experience preferred; previous team lead experience preferred.
