POSITION SUMMARY:

At Stony Brook Medicine, the Nurse Manager for Phillips Family Cancer Center (PFCC) at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital directs the daily clinical operations and workflow of the cancer center. The Nurse Manager supervises the nursing team, oversees patient care coordination, and ensures delivery of the highest quality, evidence-based safety standards throughout the patient’s treatment journey. The Nurse Manager will work in close collaboration with main campus Cancer Center, including leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary clinical teams, to ensure seamless coordination of services, optimize operational efficiency, and deliver the highest quality cancer care. Reports directly to the Sr. Director of Nursing, with an administrative reporting matrix to the Administrative Director of PFCC. This position is fully on-site.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for the oncology program.

Collaborates with Policies and Procedures to support the functional infrastructure of the department.

Works on payroll and budget with the assistance of the finance department.

Monthly scheduling of all nursing/staff members assigned to units.

Day-to-day rounding patient rounds to identify needs.

Ability to troubleshoot any patient issues at the Cancer Center.

Participate in regulatory agency compliance activities/meetings/issues.

Participate in all quality improvement projects.

Supervisor for identification and resolution of issues on-site.

Patient/Family and Staff advocate.

Review of staff policies, competencies, and educational files.

Conduct performance appraisals on all responsible staff members.

Participate in the hiring process of all staff units.

Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Technical Staff, Social Worker and Patient Access Staff.

Performs other related duties as requested.

Closely align and collaborate with SBUH Cancer Center, SBUH Radiation Oncology, Sub-specialty UFPC’s and SBSH Senior Leadership teams to integrate programs.

Collaborates with Operations Manager to ensure day-to-day operational efficiency and opportunities for improvement.

Collaborate with leadership of other departments on guidelines affecting any aspect of the Phillips Family Cancer Center to support quality patient care as well as meet health and safety standards.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Current NYS RN licensure/registration

BSN from an accredited school.

RN with 5 years minimum recent oncology experience.

ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy certificate (obtained within one year of hire).

Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in a clinical healthcare environment, including responsibility for coordinating staff, workflows, programs, or patient care services.

BLS from the American Heart Association required.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communicative, and multi-tasking skills. Must have good customer service and critical thinking skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MSN Degree.

As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
