Radiologic Technologist

Job Summary and Qualifications

A CT Tech, or Computed Tomography Technologist, performs CT scans, ensuring the highest level of customer service and image quality while managing the entire patient procedure. This involves preparing patients, which includes starting IVs for contrast administration and using the power injector, as well as retrieving necessary patient history and orders. The Technologist effectively communicates with patients, their families, physicians, and the radiologist, providing crucial signs and symptoms pertinent to the exam. They are responsible for coordinating patient flow, ensuring all daily exams are completed, maintaining equipment and departmental work areas, and upholding the principle of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) to minimize radiation dose. The role requires the completion of all documentation and contribution to after-hour coverage through on-call rotations, all while promoting quality improvement initiatives.

What you will do in this role:

  • Perform CT exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring a high quality of care.
  • Take patient history and retrieve any necessary orders or prior images.
  • Provide patient history, signs, and symptoms appropriate to the exam to the radiologist.
  • Complete documentation appropriately.
  • Coordinate patient flow and check the daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
  • Support ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
  • Inform patients about procedures and answer questions.
  • Interact and professionally communicate with physicians, patients, and family members.
  • Start IVs for contrast administration.
  • Use the power injector.
  • Prepare procedure trays with appropriate supplies.
  • Support and participate in quality (QI) and performance improvement (PI) plans.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (ARRT-CT) Computed Tomography
  • (ARRT-R) Radiography
  • Associate Degree
  • One year of post-graduate experience preferred but not required
