About the Role

Extended Care Clinical, LLC is a growing skilled nursing management organization seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Evanston, Illinois.

The ideal candidate has direct long-term care or skilled nursing accounting experience and strong full-cycle accounting skills. This role will initially include preparing financial statements and will then focus heavily on reviewing and auditing financials prepared by junior accounting staff.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for identifying discrepancies, analyzing variances, ensuring accurate reconciliations, and meeting strict monthly reporting deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.

  • Review work prepared by junior accounting staff for accuracy and completeness.

  • Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies and unusual transactions.

  • Review balance sheet and income statement accounts and supporting documentation.

  • Investigate significant variances and communicate findings to management.

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

  • Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.

  • Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.

  • Ensure accounting records comply with GAAP and company policies.

  • Support annual audits and provide requested documentation.

  • Work closely with accounting staff and management to resolve issues and meet deadlines.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • 2–3+ years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Direct long-term care, skilled nursing, senior living, or healthcare accounting experience required.

  • Strong full-cycle accounting experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
