Job Description:

Medical Oncology Associates of San Diego (MOASD) is a physician-owned cancer infusion center committed to delivering compassionate and cutting-edge care to patients battling cancer. We pride ourselves on providing personalized treatments in a patient-focused environment.

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician with a California State Board of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Technician license to assist in the preparation of IV infusions for oncology patients. The ideal candidate will have experience in sterile compounding, inventory management, and a commitment to ensuring the safe handling and storage of pharmaceuticals.

This position will be located in La Jolla, CA Monday-Thursday and Kearny Mesa on Fridays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare sterile IV infusions, including chemotherapy and other oncology-related medications, in compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards.
  • Adhere to aseptic techniques to ensure the highest level of patient safety.
  • Manage inventory using the Nucleus cabinet and Nucleus portal systems.
  • Monitor stock levels of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs, ensuring timely restocking and placing orders to maintain adequate supply.
  • Conduct weekly/month end inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
  • Safely store hazardous and non-hazardous drugs in appropriate environmental conditions to maintain drug integrity and efficacy.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding the handling and storage of pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances.
  • Maintain strict adherence to California Board of Pharmacy regulations, OSHA standards, and other applicable guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate documentation for all compounding and inventory-related activities.
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and leadership to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Communicate effectively regarding medication preparation, inventory status, and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate routine cleaning and maintenance of sterile compounding areas, Nucleus systems, and equipment.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes to uphold the center's standards of care.

Qualifications:

  • Active California State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacy Technician License (required).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in sterile compounding and inventory management, preferably in an oncology or infusion center setting.
  • Familiarity with USP <797> and <800> standards.
  • Proficiency with Nucleus cabinet and portal systems or similar inventory management tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • PTCB Certification (preferred but not required).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capacity to handle and prepare hazardous materials safely.
  • Comfortable wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended durations.

Pay Range:

$30.00-$39.00/hour
