Job Description

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a Welding Engineer who thrives in regulated, high-tolerance environments such as oil & gas, pressure vessels, nuclear, and heavy-wall manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have direct exposure to Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), particularly in multi-wire applications, and will be adept at designing or materially changing weld processes.

Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring of submerged arc welding (SAW) processes to ensure procedures are followed exactly.

  • Evaluating welding process design end to end, not just execution.
  • Providing hands-on support with machine setup, parameters, and operator adjustments.
  • Training machine operators on the theory behind the process, not just on operation.
  • Troubleshooting defects, yield loss, and quality issues caused by operator setup, machine configuration, and consumables/raw material variability.
  • Using Six Sigma/statistical trend analysis to determine whether issues are operator-driven or mechanical.

Essential Skills

  • Expertise in welding engineering and process development.
  • Proficiency in submerged arc welding techniques.
  • Experience with welding procedures and lean Six Sigma.
  • Strong understanding of weld theory.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
