Provides Governance, Oversight and Support of the Salem and Hope Creek site Radiation Protection & Chemistry departments ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient activities consistent with Nuclear Corporate and Station Goals. Responsible for supporting Station Radiation Protection & Chemistry departments, establishing and reinforcing excellence and expectations for Nuclear Operating personnel and other interfacing personnell to ensure an error free and professional work environment. This position interfaces with Nuclear Executives, Site Vice Presidents, and Plant Managers on a regular basis, especially in identifying and addressing functional area gaps.
- Coordinates internal and external resources required to support Nuclear site. Manages the resources assigned to Radiation Protection and Chemistry functions.
- Develops and manages contract strategy for all contracts required to support either radiation protection and chemistry functions.
- Provides governance within the Radiation Protection functional area through the development of standards, programs, processes, and best practices. Responsibilities include directing the facility’s radiation safety program; maintaining expert knowledge of radiation safety regulations (10 CFR 20) and industry best practices; and overseeing the fleet’s ALARA, dosimetry, and instrumentation programs. Supports the Emergency Response Organization and oversees the Radiation Protection training program.
- Develops common definitions and performance metrics to drive consistency and improve performance across the fleet.
- Provides governance through the development of standards, programs, processes and best practices with in chemistry functional area. Including chemistry control, primary/secondary/closed cooling water strategic plans, monitoring system chemistry parameters, analytical laboratory programs (QA/QC Programs) radiological/non-radiation logical effluent monitoring, waste water treatment, equipment out-of- service, human performance, technical training and developing common definitions and performance metrics to increase performance.
- Provides oversight of site radiation protection and chemistry functions through routine performance monitoring, audits, self-assessments to Nuclear requirements. Ensures consistency in program implementation across the fleet.
- Proactively manages external relationships with regulatory agencies, consultants, utility peers, industry groups and other advisory groups.
- Actively seeks industry best practices for implementation at PSEG Nuclear via benchmarking, self-assessment and engagement at industry working groups, conferences etc. CFAM represents Radiation Protection and Chemistry on development and implementation of industry standards, policies, etc.
- 10 years of experience with a degree
- 15 years of experience without a degree
- Bachelors degree and minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial nuclear operations, with at least 5 years in supervision / management in Chemistry, Radiation Protection and/or Radwaste.
- In lieu of a degree 15 years direct experience in Chemistry/Radiation Protection environment at a Nuclear Power Plant. A strong foundation in Chemistry, Radiation Protection and Radwaste processes and standards. A deep understanding of Chemistry, Radiation Protection and Radwaste programs, nuclear regulation and INPO assessment processes is required.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, communictate and evaluate complex issues required. Prior or current BWR/PWR SRO Certification or License.
- Must meet and maintain nuclear requirements for Unescorted Site Access.
- A valid Real ID or an approved form of alternate documentation (see https://www.pseg.com/IDrequirement) is required for this position by May 7, 2027.

- Radwaste Shipping, HAZMAT or waste water processing environmental licenses
