Pipefitter - Nuclear
EnergySolutions is hiring nuclear pipefitters for the fall outage season!
A Nuclear Pipefitter is a highly skilled professional responsible for the safe layout, fabrication, and installation of piping and tubing within a nuclear facility. This role requires a deep understanding of piping systems to ensure the precise and reliable operation of critical equipment. You will interpret blueprints, route tubing and piping, and fabricate and install supports, ensuring all work complies with relevant codes. Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including meeting fitness for duty requirements
Essential Functions:
  • Perform all job duties safely according to requirements.
  • Demonstrate proper use and care of hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Machine cut and thread pipe.
  • Manually cut and thread pipe.
  • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing.
  • Install pipe with screwed fittings.
  • Install pipe with flanged fittings.
  • Install pipe hangers.
  • Clean, bevel, prepare, and install pipe with weld joints.
  • Test pipe installations.
  • Properly purge and monitor stainless steel piping.
  • Install valves, traps, or strainers.
  • Lay out pipe, including the use of templates.
  • Interpret detailed pipe sketches and blueprints.
  • Fabricate subassemblies from components (e.g., pressure reducing stations, trap stations).
  • Install prefab subassemblies or component parts.
  • Apply craft-related math skills.
  • Demonstrate proper use and care of power tools.
  • Wear a respirator as needed (blood pressure no higher than 150/90).
  • Use grinders properly (do not remove guard without supervisor approval).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Prior nuclear power plant experience, highly desired.
  • Must be able to obtain nuclear unescorted access, including fitness for duty requirements.
  • Successful completion of all training including, Radiation Worker Training, Plant Access Training, Fitness for Duty, etc.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble objects and operate small equipment and power tools.
  • Availability for shift work, if needed.
  • Ability to support other crafts as requested.
  • Ability to work at varying heights, in cramped quarters, extreme heat and/or cold, and loud environments (above 89 decibels).
  • Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of technical manuals and procedures.
  • Ability to pass specific training and qualifications.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to pass all background and screening requirements, including drug and/or alcohol screening.
