Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Nuclear/Hadronic Physics at Indiana University
The Nuclear Theory Group in the Department of Physics at Indiana University Bloomington (IU) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position under the supervision of Dr. Sebastian Dawid. The appointment will initially be for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. The start date is flexible and may be arranged by mutual agreement.
The position is intended for a researcher interested in developing new theoretical and computational approaches to the strong interaction. Possible directions include the extraction and interpretation of hadronic observables in few-body and multichannel scattering, applications of effective field theories to nuclear and hadronic systems, and formal developments in scattering theory or lattice field theory. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to pursue independent research directions and to collaborate across the IU Nuclear Theory Group.
The IU Nuclear Theory Group consists of four faculty members, several postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students. Current research areas include: hadronic amplitude analysis and scattering theory, heavy-ion collisions and the properties of hot QCD matter, hadronic probes of beyond-the-Standard-Model physics, and formal developments in lattice QCD. IU Physics Department also maintains strong ties to leading hadronic and nuclear physics experiments.
A Ph.D. in theoretical high-energy or nuclear physics is required by the time of appointment. Research experience in one or more relevant areas, including lattice QCD, effective field theory, and hadronic/nuclear scattering, is preferred.
