Radiological Engineering Analyst (Contract)

Location: Remote (Contiguous U.S.) Duration: Contract Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Position Summary

System One is seeking an experienced Radiological Engineering Analyst to support advanced nuclear engineering projects. This fully remote contract role focuses on radiological and nuclear analyses, licensing documentation, and technical support for pressurized light-water reactor (PWR) programs. The ideal candidate has a strong background in nuclear engineering, radiological analysis, and reactor licensing, along with experience working independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiological engineering calculations and analyses using industry-standard software including SCALE 6, MCNP, ADVANTG, RADTRAD, and NRCDose.
  • Develop technical analyses supporting nuclear licensing activities and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and defend licensing documentation for commercial nuclear reactor projects.
  • Solve complex engineering challenges through innovative analytical approaches.
  • Interpret project requirements and develop engineering alternatives and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, and customer stakeholders.
  • Present technical information and project updates to internal and external customers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Support engineering documentation and project deliverables.
  • Perform additional engineering duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Radiological Health Physics, or related ABET-accredited engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of nuclear engineering, radiological engineering, or health physics experience.
  • Additional experience supporting PWR or BWR licensing development and licensing defense.
  • Experience performing nuclear analyses using one or more of:
    • SCALE 6
    • MCNP
    • ADVANTG
    • RADTRAD
    • NRCDose
  • Strong understanding of nuclear regulatory requirements and licensing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
  • Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810 export control requirements.

Preferred Experience

  • Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering or Health Physics.
  • Experience with:
    • 10 CFR 50 Appendix B
    • 10 CFR Part 21
    • ASME NQA-1 Quality Assurance
  • Commercial nuclear power plant experience.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
