Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a rural LDRP hospital setting, requiring CA RN licensure and fetal monitoring expertise.

Details
  • Family Birth Center providing labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care in a rural LDRP hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Facility performs fewer than 100 births per month
  • Cares for antepartum, high-risk antepartum, labor & delivery, LDRP, Level I nursery, and mother/baby populations
  • Utilizes external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration and spiral electrode placement
  • Administers medications such as antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, prostaglandins, and terbutaline
  • Any charting system experience accepted
Requirements
  • Active CA RN license required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring certification required (AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate preferred, FHM preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, venous blood draws, and IV starts/maintenance
  • Experience with amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal delivery assistance, forceps/vacuum extraction, hemorrhage/shock management, and C-section recovery
  • Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and thermoregulation
  • Experience with newborn care including circumcision assistance, cord care, discharge teaching, metabolic screening, and phototherapy
  • Experience with antepartum procedures including sterile speculum and vaginal exams, NST, and obstetrical triage
  • Experience with postpartum care including breastfeeding support, Foley catheter management, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment
  • Experience managing postpartum patients with C-section, multiple births, hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Experience with epidural anesthesia, pain management, and IV PCA use
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration
  • 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
  • Copies of all current certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn units in a supportive, team-oriented environment
  • Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for the local rate
  • Max RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • Must be available for lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • Returning staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation before reapplying
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
