Position Summary:

The Supervisor, NPI Management, is responsible for the tactical and operational oversight of NPI Managers in planning, managing, and delivering product development
projects under the supervision of the Director. This introductory leadership role requires demonstrated effectiveness as a team leader, strong communication and organizational skills, and experience in product development. The Supervisor, NPI Management will collaborate with their direct reports, interdisciplinary product development team members, and communicate directly with Executive Management.

FLSA: Exempt

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the NPI Managers and their projects to meet SIG SAUER’s Company goals and strategic objectives, with
    supervision from the Director.
  • Manage the NPI Management team's resource pool, assign projects based on Company priorities, and on skillset and staff development requirements; forecast
    future resource needs and take action to address bottlenecks and conflicts, with supervision from Director.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to current processes and procedures based on project execution feedback, lessons learned, and observed challenges and
    opportunities.
  • Drive the department's adherence to the Company's NPI processes and procedures, as well as departmental methodologies, processes, and best practices, with supervision from the Director.
  • Monitor and provide regular updates to Executive Management on the operational status, timelines, resource requirements, and challenges of ongoing projects.
  • Support project teams in managing critical project issues and escalating to Executive Management, if necessary.
  • Work closely with interdepartmental business leaders to ensure successful operational project execution.
  • Participate in the employee interview process. Identify and select the most highly skilled candidate for the team.
  • Develop a successful onboarding plan for new talent that will successfully assimilate them into their roles, and the organization.
  • Engage in the performance management process, providing clear, timely, and constructive feedback to employees.
  • Manage training and provide mentorship for direct reports to improve skills and develop in their careers continuously.
  • Coach and mentor employees in a way that fosters two-way communication and will develop a best-in-class team, with supervision from the Director.
  • Drive team development by identifying skill gaps and coordinate targeted training initiatives that enhance employee capabilities and foster growth that align with
    evolving business needs.
  • Maintain an expert level of SIG SAUER NPI process mastery, and the operational processes pertaining to cross-functional team members who contribute to the product
    development process.
  • Lead and actively volunteer for continuous improvement projects and tasks.
  • Leads, participates in and sustains 5s standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business, or equivalent working experience required; Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Typically requires 7-10 years of product development, engineering, manufacturing correlated experience required, 2 years of prior experience in leading a team is required.
  • Must be mechanically inclined, and have an advanced understanding of mechanical devices and assemblies.
  • Advanced understanding of technical product development issues, facilitating development, and implementation of action plans with Engineers to resolve problems.
  • Experience using and maintaining firearms is preferred.
  • PMP certification is preferred, but not required.
  • Proven expertise in forecasting project resources and budgets, as well as proactively identifying and mitigating constraints.
  • Strong computer-based technical competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be experienced using a PLM system for complete product lines,
    Agile is preferred.
  • High degree of proficiency using project planning, collaborative work management system, and task management tools such as Monday.com, Asana, Smartsheet, or
    Microsoft Project.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication, reporting, and professionalism skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of leadership skills and confidence while working in a team environment.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form. Ability to effectively present information
    to Executive Management.
  • Ability to lead the team through complex technical and logistical challenges.
  • Exceptional track record of planning, leading, and executing New Product Introduction (NPI), Value Analysis Engineering (VAVE), and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects based on a prescribed scope of work, budget and/or timeline.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
