Substitute Occupational Therapist: August 12, 2026 - November 3, 2026
The ELC is located in Vernon Hills (Lake County), Illinois; is a special education cooperative providing services to students identified with special needs, ages 3 through 22 years of age. The ELC represents Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96, Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103, Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125 and Fox Lake District 114.ย  The ELC serves eight elementary schools, four junior high/middle schools and one high school.
Description:
As we continue to provide world-class, specialized educational services and supports locally for our exceptional learners in partnership with families and districts, the Substitute Occupational Therapist will support our students with a variety of needs in a more structured learning environment.
The approximate timeframe forย this roleย is August 12, 2026 - November 3, 2026.

Qualifications:ย 
Ability to travel within the member districts of the ELC.











Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses students' fine and gross motor skills and functional abilities (e.g. perceptual-motor, hand functions, motor coordination, sensory development, muscle strength, etc.) for the purpose of determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for occupational therapy treatment, appropriate assistive devices and/or curriculum access.
  • Provides therapy to students based on district or ISBE learning standards, and/or individual student IEP goals and objectives within the classroom or outside the classroom enviorment.
  • Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. parents, teachers, physicians, administration, maintenance personnel, team members, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials from the IEP for the purpose of remediating students' motor skill deficits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and safe therapeutic environment for students.
