Job Overview
Nova Space Solutions (NSS) is seeking a Pipefitter/Plumber - Maintenance to support operations at Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF). This position performs installation, maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction activities on plumbing and piping systems, including steam, water, gas, oil, air, chemical, hydraulic, compressed air, fire sprinkler, and sanitary systems.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Install, assemble, repair, and maintain plumbing lines, piping systems, fixtures, and accessories
  • Determine routing and location of lines, accessories, equipment, and related components
  • Make pipe connections by sweating, leading, threading, screwing, bolting, or other approved methods
  • Calculate pipe sizes, connection requirements, and materials needed for assigned work
  • Install and test hydraulic, compressed air, fire sprinkler, steam, and other pressure systems
  • Install and test sanitary plumbing fixtures and related systems
  • Perform functional tests to verify proper installation and system operation
  • Troubleshoot major breakdowns, diagnose issues, and take corrective action
  • Perform work in accordance with trade practices, work orders, plumbing codes, and safety requirements
  • Perform all tasks incidental to pipefitting/plumbing maintenance work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plumbing and piping systems and related components
  • Support safe and reliable operation of facility piping, plumbing, and pressure systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, work orders, and applicable plumbing codes
  • Determine routing, placement, materials, and connection methods for piping systems
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance
  • Work safely and professionally in a team-oriented maintenance environment
  • Support operational schedules, peak periods, and surge requirements as needed

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Minimum of 3 years of pipefitting, plumbing, or related maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of plumbing and piping systems, trade practices, and applicable plumbing codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work orders
  • Ability to troubleshoot piping/plumbing system failures and perform corrective repairs
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule
  • Ability to work outside normal schedules and adjust work hours to support operational requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications required for the position
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Valid REAL ID driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required NASA site access and credentials
  • Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing

Preferred:
  • Experience supporting NASA, Federal, or government contractor environments
  • Experience working in industrial, facility maintenance, or mission-critical environments
  • Experience with steam, compressed air, hydraulic, fire sprinkler, chemical, or pressure piping systems

Working Conditions:
  • Work performed in facility, industrial, and maintenance environments
  • Exposure to heat, cold, fumes, dirt, pipe waste, and active piping or plumbing systems
  • May require work in confined, elevated, or awkward spaces

Physical Requirements:
  • Requires some climbing and working in awkward positions.
  • Necessitates considerable physical eff ort to move and position heavy materials and handle threading and cutting tools.
