Position at Danbury Hospital

Summary:
Performs diagnostic radiographs of patients while maintaining patient safety. May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiologic technologist students and assist in evaluating students ability to perform procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Greet patient, introduces self, and checks patient identification.
2. Reviews patient script and Cerner requisition to ensure the appropriate exam is being performed.
3. Acquires appropriate history from patient that is pertinent to the exam being performed.
4. Explains procedure and answers any questions the patient has regarding the test.
5. Follows department protocol for exam and ensures the safety & comfort of the patient.
6. Shields patient according to department protocol and follows ALARA standards.
7. Produces and review high quality xrays for interpretation by the Radiologist.
8. Interacts professionally with patient and family.
9. Attends annual hospital review & departmental inservices meetings. Practices medicine & surgical aseptic procedures. Assists Radiologist with invasive procedures. Works well with other modalities to provide complete patient care.
10. May provide clinical instruction to prospective radiographers to instill duties of a radiologic technologist in a health care facility. May evaluate a students' ability to perform procedures & ensures student attains objectives of each competency.
11. Maintains clinical competency and demonstrates proficiency to work in assigned patient care area(s).
12. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Required: Continuing education, 24 CEU credits for license. Maintains current knowledge of professional discipline & educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Experience with patient care in a radiology setting.
