Job Summary

Northern Light Mercy Hospital is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible (BC/BE) Total Joint Orthopedic Surgeon to join an established, collaborative, and highly successful orthopedic practice. Serving the beautiful coastal communities of Portland and Falmouth, Maine, this role offers a balanced lifestyle, state-of-the-art surgical technology—including the ROSA robotic system—and the robust security of an integrated healthcare system. Both experienced surgeons and upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply.

Practice & Position Description

Step into a flourishing, community-based practice designed to support your clinical autonomy and professional growth. You will work alongside three accomplished orthopedic surgeons in a department renowned for high standards of surgical outcomes and patient-centered care.

Schedule & Practice Highlights
  • Balanced Work Week: 2 dedicated days in the Operating Room and 3 days in the clinic, with flexibility to scale your OR time as your practice builds.
  • Shared Call: A manageable 1:4 call rotation ensuring strong work-life balance.
  • Dedicated PA Support: Benefit from high-level, dedicated Physician Assistant support. PAs are assigned individually to surgeons and act as your first assist in the OR, managing continuity of care.
  • Advanced Technology: Access the ROSA robotic system on-site to optimize surgical accuracy and patient outcomes for complex joint reconstructions.
Job Requirements
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Orthopedic Surgery.
  • Specialized fellowship training in Total Joint Arthroplasty (preferred but open to strong general surgeons with extensive joint experience).
  • Eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Maine.
  • Strong collaborative skills, a patient-first philosophy, and a commitment to mission-driven, holistic healthcare.
