Job description

JOIN OUR TEAM

At Aspect Retail Logistics, we keep our customers stores supplied with the everyday products customers depend on. Our high-volume grocery distribution center operates in a safety-first, team-driven environment where reliability, accuracy, and productivity matter.

Role Summary

The Safety & Loss Prevention Manager plays a critical role in protecting our most valuable assets: our people and our inventory. Working in a fastโ€‘paced grocery warehouse environment, this leader is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, reducing workplace injuries (WC), minimizing shrink, and ensuring full compliance with food safety, OSHA, and company standards.

The Safety & Loss Prevention Manager anticipates and identifies risks before they become incidents, accidents, or financial losses. The role leads all safety and lossโ€‘prevention programs, conducts hazard assessments, oversees incident investigations, and partners closely with operational leaders to implement corrective actions and continuous improvements.

Through strong communication, training, and onโ€‘theโ€‘floor engagement, this role ensures teams are equipped with the knowledge, tools, and practices needed to maintain a safe, secure, and compliant work environment. The Safety & Loss Prevention Manager serves as both a strategic advisor and a handsโ€‘on leader, fostering accountability and supporting operational excellence across the facility.

Unlike a standard retail store, a grocery warehouse involves heavy machinery (forklifts/pallet jacks) and perishable goods. This candidate needs to be as comfortable talking to a forklift operator about unsafe practices as they are talking to the GM about the financial impact of inventory shrink.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)

  • Accident Investigation: Lead the root cause analysis for all warehouse accidents, near-misses, and equipment damage.
  • Training & Drills: Design and execute safety training programs, including Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certifications and emergency evacuation drills.
  • Safety Committee Leadership: Chair the internal Safety Committee to review trends and implement "Safety First" cultural initiatives.
  • OSHA Compliance: Maintain the OSHA 300 log and ensure the facility is always "audit-ready" for federal or state inspections.

2. Loss Prevention & Shrink Control

  • Shrink Analysis: Partner with Inventory Control to identify patterns in "missing" high-value grocery items and implement physical or systemic deterrents.
  • Physical Security: Manage CCTV systems, access control (badge entry), and guard services to prevent unauthorized entry and internal/external theft.
  • Audit Programs: Conduct daily floor walks and weekly audits of loading docks, trash compactors, and shipping/receiving manifests.
  • Vendor & Driver Integrity: Audit third-party delivery drivers and vendors to ensure adherence to security and food safety protocols.

Required Skill Set

  • Hazard Recognition - Ability to spot a rack safety issue or a spilled pallet from across a 100k sq. ft. floor.
  • Data Analytics - Proficiency in analyzing "Shrink vs. Sales" and "Total Recordable Incident Rates" (TRIR).
  • Technical Security - Experience managing IP-based CCTV, DVR systems, and Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS).
  • Investigation - Skilled in "Wicklander-Zulawski" or similar interview/interrogation techniques.
  • Crisis Management - The ability to stay calm and direct others during fires, medical emergencies, or chemical leaks.

Qualifications Needed

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in criminal justice, Occupational Safety, or Business Management.
  • Experience: 5+ years in Safety or Loss Prevention, with at least 2 years in a high-volume distribution or warehouse setting (Grocery/Big Box experience is a must).
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Certification (General Industry) is required. CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or LPC (Loss Prevention Certified) is highly preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to walk 5โ€“10 miles per day on concrete floors and work in varied temperatures (Dry and Cooler Environments).

WHY JOIN US?

  • Work in an environment where safety is our first priority
  • The opportunity to build a career with a growing company
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Wellness programs to support your familyโ€™s well-being
  • A Retirement Savings Program with a company match
  • Company team wear allowance
  • Company sponsored social events
  • Community volunteering
