Job description

Job Summary:
The Allen Institute is a non-profit AI research institute based in Seattle, dedicated to building breakthrough AI to solve the world’s biggest problems. They are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT team, responsible for automating systems and building core infrastructure to support various AI initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Integrating software subscriptions with Okta for seamless user management
• Creating terraform configurations to for consistent management of GCP and AWS
• Building and deploying software that monitors for security vulnerabilities
• Investing in infrastructure to aggregate costs across all our services into a consistent format
• Deploying automation to audit user access across all of our software subscriptions
• Building and maintaining an automated pipeline for managing people, their accounts, and permissions
• Troubleshooting, documenting, and maintaining our internal systems
• Developing incident response automation, including auto-remediation workflows for common alerts
• Implementing backup and disaster recovery automation across critical systems and data stores
Qualifications:
Required:
• Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• 5+ years of experience in IT or software development, with at least 3 years of experience focusing primarily on automation
• Strong coding ability in a language such as Python
• Familiarity with using GitHub to organize code, and GitHub Actions for automation
• Experience with specific IT automation tools, such as Terraform, Kandji/Iru, and Okta
• Experience administering and supporting major cloud providers such as AWS and Google Cloud
• Demonstrated knowledge of networking fundamentals
• Proven ability to collaborate with non-technical departments to translate business requirements into automated solutions
• Strong documentation experience with a focus on clear runbooks and end-user guides
• Familiarity with SAML and SCIM for identity and access management
Preferred:
• A background in cybersecurity
• Hands on experience supporting security and compliance audits
