Job description

Job Description: Senior Payroll Manager Company: Real Estate/Property Management Location: Midtown, NYC (Hybrid) Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000 Schedule: Hybrid after 30 days Key Responsibilities Global Department Leadership Supervisory Oversight: Manage, mentor, and train a global payroll team of approximately 15 employees Performance Management: Oversee daily workflows, conduct constructive performance evaluations, and lead hiring initiatives for the department. Process Modernization: Identify and implement technological updates to streamline payroll software, systems, and procedures. Payroll Operations & Compliance System Management: Maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure accurate transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, and tax deductions.

High-Volume Processing: Ensure the timely execution of payroll updates for 2,000+ employees, covering new hires, terminations, and rate changes. Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, as well as prevailing wage requirements. Audit Management: Facilitate and respond to various audits, including Workers' Compensation and union-specific inquiries (32BJ, Local 272, etc.).

Specialized Union Requirements Union Relations: Manage complex NYC union payroll requirements; familiarity with Local 32BJ is highly preferred. Property Accounting Support: Maintain knowledge of HR requirements and benefit tracking for non-union buildings. Database Management: Oversee the integrity of the salary and bonus database.

Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in ADP Workforce Now (WFN) and Workforce Manager (WFM/Kronos) is mandatory. Union Experience: Proven experience managing payroll within a union environment (NYC unions such as 32BJ or 272 are a significant plus). Leadership: Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience managing payroll teams.

Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a high degree of attention to detail. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, HR, or a related field. Experience: 5–10 years of total related payroll experience.
