Job description

The LPN or Insulin-Certified QMA/Scheduler plays a key role in supporting both resident care and daily operations within Heritage Assisted Living community. This position is responsible for accurately administering medications-including insulin injections within the QMA scope-while also managing the community's nursing schedule to ensure consistent and compliant staffing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to balance clinical responsibilities with administrative tasks in a fast-paced, resident-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Medication Administration (Assisted Living Environment)
• Administer medications and insulin to residents in accordance with Indiana state regulations and assisted living community policies.
• Provide person-centered care by engaging with residents respectfully and supporting their individualized wellness needs.
• Document medication administration, refusals, and follow-up observations in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and communicate concerns promptly to the Wellness Director or nurse on duty.
• Maintain medication carts, supplies, and documentation areas in compliance with assisted living standards and ISDH guidelines.
• Assist care staff with daily tasks within the QMA scope to promote resident safety and well-being.
Scheduling Responsibilities
• Create, update, and maintain the master staffing schedule for Resident Care staff, including QMA, CNA/HHA, and caregiver shifts.
• Ensure adequate staffing based on resident acuity, service plans, and facility needs.
• Communicate open shifts, call-offs, and schedule changes to team members in a timely and professional manner.
• Track attendance, PTO requests, and staff availability to support proactive scheduling.
• Collaborate with leadership to maintain compliance with assisted living staffing requirements and minimize overtime.
• Assist with onboarding new care staff by entering availability and first-week schedules into the scheduling system.
Requirements
Requirements
  • Current Indiana QMA or LPN certification with valid Insulin Certification.
  • Experience in assisted living, memory care, or senior living preferred.
  • Prior staffing or scheduling experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Proficient in scheduling software, EHR systems, and basic computer applications.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and uphold the community's standards of care.
