Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Interprets written eyeglass prescriptions, works with patients in all aspects of eyeglass care and use, and ensures proper fit. Prepares and maintains schedule for Optical Dispensers at a specific location and organizes and conducts training of new employees.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

       Prepares and maintains monthly rotating schedule for all Optical Dispensers.

       Responsible for all training modules for new hires. Acts as a resource person to all Optical Dispensers. Efficiently organizes and prioritizes daily activities.

       Designs, measures, fits and adapts lenses and frames for patient according to written optical prescription or specification. Interprets doctor's prescription and suggest products and enhancements to address specific prescription requirements.

       Assists patient with selecting frames.

       Answers and addresses customer concerns and questions.

       Measures customer for size of eyeglasses and coordinates frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription.

       Prepares work orders for optical laboratory.

       Communicates with outside vendors and labs regarding eyeglass orders.

       Inspects and adjusts all eyewear and eyewear material.

       Effectively maintains multiple phone lines while demonstrating proper telephone etiquette.

       Demonstrates and understands frames and lens materials as well as enhancements while assisting patients in selecting frames and lenses best suited for lifestyle and prescription.

       Is proficient in understanding all types of lenses, functionality of all lenses; the use of lensometer (manual and automatic).

       Use HFO's E.A.R.N. process (engage, ask, recommend, nourish) to ask questions and make appropriate recommendations based on customer needs.

       Proficient in understanding of lens manufacturer and emblems, understanding of base curve, and interpreting prism.

       Proficient in understanding and interpreting electronic medical records.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

       Requires High school diploma or GED. 

       Requires previous computer experience, customer service and/or retail or hospitality experience. 

       Requires previous optical experience. 

       Requires basic math skills. 

       Previous dispensing/optical experience required. 

       Must be able to walk, bend and stand for extended periods of time.

WORKING CONDITIONS

             Works in retail optical environment.

             Requires evening and weekend hours.
