Job description

Performs a variety of duties that relates to the preparation and serving of patient food. Assist management in maintaining patient information and refrigerator/freezer temperature logs. Assists and leads others in keeping patient prep area clean. Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationship with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
Essential Duties:

  • Assist Management in Recording refrigerator and freezer temperature logs and reports inappropriate temperatures to supervisor/manager.
  • Coordinates work flow/Sets up and serves patient trays in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Verifies patient Kardex is filled out and complete compare to active diet list.
  • Leads other in and assists with preparations of early and late trays.
  • Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationship with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
  • Refills breakfast carts and serves breakfast to patients on floors.
  • Notifies Registered Dietitian of any patient complaints and or concerns.
  • Assists management with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Verifies and Completes all cleaning assignments.
  • Pulls items needed for patient meals.
  • Performs all other duties as related or assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req Ability to follow oral and written instruction and establish procedures.
  • Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref High School or equivalent If no HS diploma must have some experience in hospitality services, nutrition and dietary services, customer service within food industry, or food services
  • Pref Experience in hospitality services, nutrition and dietary services, customer service within food industry, or food services
  • Pref Certification - Job Relevant Certified Food Handler Certificate or equivalent ServSafe Certificate.
  • Pref Active involvement with professional food service organization.


Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 - $29.77.
