Responsibilities:
  • Handle accident investigation
  • Responsible for driver training and on-boarding process when needed
  • Conduct tractor/trailer inspections and road tests
  • Support and assist with dispatch office activities
  • Responsible for getting store directions
  • Assist in trailer inventory and monitoring of trailers on yard
  • Assist Transportation Managers/Supervisors at all distribution centers with questions/information regarding driver qualification.
  • Oversee and coordinate driver employee status reports. Distribute monthly driver qualification status reports and reminders to drivers of upcoming expirations so they can remain qualified as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation.
  • Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or distribution center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity.
  • Handle phone calls from store personnel, vendors, and other partnerships regarding service issues & special requests.
  • Evaluate coordination of loads to ensure efficient and timely load deliveries to our stores
  • Work with Corporate Fleet Manager, with trailer inventory, utilization, tractor replacement, trailer non-movement reporting, and trailer tracking.
  • Work with other departments within the facility to achieve and maintain overall production standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety and productivity
  • Some overnight travel and willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Any other duties assigned by leadership
  • 4 Day rotating schedule working nights
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years tractor trailer driving experience.
  • Must not have more than one moving violation against your driving record in the last 3 year rolling period.
  • Knowledge of DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations along with Transportation Logistics
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 70 lbs.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous tractor trailer driving experience
  • Knowledge of all D.O.T. regulations
  • Excellent driving skills
  • Possess good communication, verbal and written skills
  • Ability to pass and meet all requirements for the D.O.T. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations handbook and D.O.T. physical and drug screen
