Job description

●       About Facility:

o   174 licensed beds

o   No Trauma Designation

o   Teaching Hospital? Only Community Schools of Nursing

o   Chest Pain Center? No, but part of Lee Garvey Chest Pain Network

o   TJC Stroke accredited

o   Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

●       Unit Information:

o   Beds: 45

o   Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months Med/Tele RN exp

o   Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

●       Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o   General surgeries, Orthopedics, Med Tele, COPD, Stroke, Diabetes, and other general med-surg populations

●       Patient Ratios:

o   RN: 1:5-6

o   LPN: 1:5-6

o   CNA: 1:8-9

●       Required Licensure & Certifications:

o   BLS, ACLS, NHSS

●       Skills required:

o   General Med- Surg RN skills – IV starts, drain/tube management, wound care, NGT placement, central line management

o   Will manage non-titrating Cardiac drips: Cardizem and Amiodarone, Heparin gtts, blood products

●       Support within the Department:

o   CNA:  Nursing support, ADLs, Ambulation, pt’s cares, meal assist., all duties as assigned

o   Receptionist/HUC? Yes

o   Charge nurse? Yes, generally w/o patient assignment with additional Team Lead support

o   Phlebotomy team: Yes

o   IV/VAT Team: Yes

o   Resource Nurse? The Team Lead on the unit acts as support to team and charge RN

o   RT 24/7: Yes

o   Hospitalist 24/7: Yes

o   Intensivist 24/7: In ICU

o   Telemetry monitoring/tech: Yes, centralized for all units to 4th floor, 24/7

●       Technology/Equipment:

o   EMR: Epic

o   IV Pump: Alaris

o   Med dispensing: Omnicell

o   Monitors: Phillips

o   Unit specific equipment: General med surg equipment and tele monitors

●       Floating:

o   Within region and scope of practice

o    Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children’s Hospital)

●       Orientation (facility and unit):

o   NEO

o   2 days departmental

●       Scheduling:

o   Weekend rotation: every other

o   No call

o   Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

o   RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours

o   Shift times: 12h shifts – 7a or 7p start time

o   Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
