Alarm & Detection Superintendent (NON-UNION)
The function of this position is to lead and supervise field personnel delivering reliable, high-quality customer support through the planning, coordination, inspection, installation, repair, and commissioning of fire alarm and detection systems. The Superintendent is accountable for schedule, safety, quality control, code compliance, and customer/GC coordination across one or multiple projects/sites.
The salary range for this position is $45.00-$55.00 per hour depending on experience.
Job Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise technicians and apprentices; assign daily work, manpower, and priorities across multiple jobs.
  • Conduct daily/weekly planning, jobsite walk-throughs, and coordination meetings with GCs, owners, and AHJs.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex troubleshooting, system performance issues, and customer concerns.
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety requirements, including job hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Own field QA/QC: verify device counts/locations, labeling, loop loading, voltage drop, as-builts, and workmanship prior to inspections.
  • Ensure work is executed to NFPA, local AHJ amendments, project specifications, and company standards; proactively resolve code/spec conflicts with PM/Engineer/AHJ.
  • Support PM with change order documentation (scope changes, T&M tickets, field impacts) and provide labor/material forecasts.
  • Plan and lead system acceptance activities: pre-test, 100% device test coordination, monitoring/central station coordination, final acceptance support etc
  • Interact with clients, field personnel and fire marshals
  • Coordination with other disciplines, engineers, general contractors and end users
  • Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of jobs
  • Responsible for training apprentices on Company procedures, systems inspection and installation techniques
  • All work is performed to NFPA and Company standards with quality inspection and installation techniques practiced

Job Qualifications
  • Supervisory/foreman/superintendent experience leading fire alarm & detection teams
  • Ability to interpret and manage project documents: specs, submittals, sequence of operations, RFIs, and coordinated drawings
  • Knowledge of acceptance testing, commissioning support, and AHJ inspection processes
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes is required. NICET II+ Certification a plus
  • Manufactures certifications are preferred but not required (EST, Gamewell, FCI, Notifier, Honeywell, Simplex, Siemens)
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Regular bending, reaching, climbing and walking
