Head of Talent

Job type: Full Time · Department: People · Work type: Hybrid · CAD 150,000-180,000 / year

Montreal, Quebec, Canada

About Zeffy

Zeffy is the fastest-growing nonprofit platform in North America, helping organizations raise funds, run events, and engage donors. We are already working with more than 80,000 nonprofits and are doubling annually.

Millions of people dedicate their lives to causes beyond profit, running schools, shelters, and community initiatives. Yet most still lack modern tools. We believe the greatest opportunity for technology today is to amplify the impact of nonprofits.

Built on a sustainable, self-funded model, Zeffy reaches over 1M donors monthly and grows profitably, giving us the freedom to focus fully on our mission.

Nonprofit workers are heroes. They deserve the best technology, and we’re hiring top minds and top hearts to build it for them.

About the role

At Zeffy, talent is everything. We're ~45 people delivering what most companies need 100+ to do, because we look for exceptional talents. As Head of Talent, you own the entire recruiting function. You'll close roles yourself, coach hiring managers and recruiters, and build the systems and employer brand that make Zeffy a magnet for top talent in Montréal and Paris.

You’ll report directly to our CEO, François, and manage a team of two recruiters.

More precisely, you will Recruit directly
  • Source, screen, and close some of our hardest roles end-to-end, especially senior and cross-functional positions where your experience makes the difference
  • Partner with hiring managers to sharpen role definitions, scorecards, and search strategy
  • Maintain an excellent candidate experience at every touchpoint
Lead, coach & build
  • Coach recruiters to sharpen their sourcing, screening, and closing skills
  • Coach hiring managers to be the best interviewers
  • Make sure alignment between recruiter, hiring managers, and the market is present in all roles.
  • Improve processes with a smart approach: enough structure (scorecards, pipeline analytics, feedback loops, AI) to make better decisions, without the bureaucracy and heavy processes that kill good judgment
  • Build our employer brand: coordinate content, events, and partnerships that make Zeffy visible to the people we want to attract
Preferred experience (qualifications)

We're looking for someone with 5+ years leading a talent/recruiting function, ideally in a fast-growing startup or in a context where hiring bar was high.

  • You've personally closed hard-to-fill roles
  • You've coached hiring managers and recruiters and made them measurably better
  • You've built or significantly improved recruiting processes and know when structure helps vs. when it gets in the way
  • You're excited about AI and recruiting tech as real levers

Bonus:

  • Experience recruiting in both North America and Europe
  • Experience in HR / People
What's in it for you
  • 4 weeks holiday + 1 week during Christmas
  • Competitive stock option program
  • Health insurance
  • Online medicine with Dialogue
  • RRSP program
  • Allowance for ecological transport
  • Wellness budget
  • Team volunteering four times per year
  • Offsite summit once a year with the entire team
  • Offices in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal, with flexible hybrid work
Recruitment Process
  • Call with Recruiter (30 min)
  • Meeting with CEO (1.5h)
  • Paid Case Study (5h mostly async)
  • Cultural interview with leadership (1h)
  • Coffee with the recruiting team
  • Reference check
  • Job offer

Zeffy is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
