Job Title: Director

Job Duties:

  • Develop, design, and execute near-prime or non-prime portfolio credit strategies, including credit line increases, credit authorizations, and exposure reduction to optimize portfolio performance.
  • Leverage expertise in risk-return optimization for credit strategies using advanced financial modeling including NPV, DCF, and ROI.
  • Design and implement comprehensive risk management frameworks that align with regulatory standards and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Analyze and optimize unsecured credit portfolios, with understanding of risk-reward tradeoffs, behavioral segmentation, and lifecycle dynamics unique to credit products.
  • Develop credit strategies, using statistical and mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, regression, and machine learning.
  • Work with large analytical datasets and utilize analytical tools and languages SAS, SQL, Python, and Power BI to perform strategy design, segmentation, optimization, simulation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams to implement and govern analytics-driven strategies.
  • Develop and execute structured test-and-learn frameworks to monitor and refine treatment effectiveness.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into strategic recommendations for senior business stakeholders.
  • Direct cross-functional testing to evaluate credit treatments across customer segments, driving insights that lead to the development and enhancement of portfolio credit strategies.
  • Monitor portfolio trends and performance metrics to adjust credit strategies in response to macroeconomic shifts, competitive dynamics, and internal goals.
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in governance forums, contributing to policy reviews, compliance assessments, and strategic planning for credit risk management.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation on strategy assumptions, treatment rationale, test design, and outcomes.
  • Supervise analysts, managers, contractors, and third-party resources supporting analytics, campaign selection, and reporting functions.
  • Employee will be required to work from Merrick Bank's Wilmington, Delaware office located at 1000 N West St., 11th Floor, Wilmington, Delaware 19801, 1-2 days per week. Work from home benefit provided. Worksites are unanticipated. Must live within reasonable commuting distance of Wilmington, Delaware.

Degree Required:Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics.

Experience Required: Six (6) years of experience as a Business Analyst, Risk Manager, Statistician, Analytical Modeler, or similar occupation. Employer will accept in lieu of a Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience a Master's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics and four (4) years of experience as a Business Analyst, Risk Manager, Statistician, Analytical Modeler, or similar occupation.

Skill set Requirements (Special Requirements):

  • Four (4) years of the experience required above must be in the Credit Card Industry or Consumer Finance Industry.

Demonstrable knowledge of and prior experience in:

  • Developing, designing, and executing credit strategies in near-prime or non-prime portfolios;
  • Risk-return optimization for credit strategies using advanced financial modeling NPV, DCF, and ROI;
