Job description

Part-Time Food Service Technician

Provide food preparation, food service, sanitation, inventory, cashiering, and customer service support for Culinary Operations. Assist with the preparation, cooking, setup, service, and cleanup of food and beverage items while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors. Support daily culinary operations through food preparation, inventory management, sanitation, customer service, and other operational activities as assigned. Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare, cook, assemble, and serve food and beverage items.
  • Perform food preparation duties including breakfast, lunch, snack, catering, and special event items as assigned.
  • Set up snack areas, beverage stations, display cases, serving lines, and service areas.
  • Perform cashier duties including operating cash registers, handling payments, balancing registers, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation, service, dining, and storage areas.
  • Perform dishwashing, cleaning, and sanitation duties in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Assist with inventory counts, inventory records, stock rotation, and storage of food and non-food supplies.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries, checking shipments, and stocking supplies.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures including securing food products, refrigeration units, cash drawers, and service areas.
  • Work independently or collaboratively with team members to support daily operations.
  • Assist with menu preparation, catering functions, special events, and campus activities as assigned.
  • Travel between District locations when operationally necessary.
  • Participate in required meetings, professional development activities, certifications, and training programs.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Food service, restaurant, hospitality, or culinary experience preferred; completion of a culinary arts training program may substitute for related experience.
  • Operate a District vehicle and travel between District locations as required to support food service operations, catering activities, special events, and staffing needs.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • ServSafe certification or ability to obtain certification may be required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as under supervision and direction.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed primarily in a commercial food service and kitchen environment.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, grasping, and repetitive hand and arm movements are required.
  • Employee must regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and move food products, supplies, equipment, and materials weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Work involves regular exposure to hot ovens, grills, stoves, steam, dishwashing equipment, refrigeration units, cleaning chemicals, sharp knives, slicers, and other commercial food service equipment.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, including walk-in coolers and freezers, is common.
  • Position requires frequent interaction with students, employees, vendors, and visitors.
  • Reliable, dependable, and punctual attendance is essential.

Organizational Relationship:

  • Part-time personnel position reports to the assigned supervisor, Executive Chef, Kitchen Manager, Instructional Director of Campus, or other designated administrator as assigned.

Contract Details:

  • Twelve-month contract subject to annual renewal.
  • Working days and hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. working a minimum of 20 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours per week. Work schedule may vary based on operational needs.
  • Francis Tuttle offers part-time employees, hired by the board of education in a regular, ongoing part-time position working a minimum of 20 hours per week, health and dental options covered at 50%, accrued paid time off for sick leave/school closure periods, and 100% pension contribution into the Oklahoma Teachers Retirement System.
