Position Overview

Company is looking for experienced Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Engineering specialists to support the In-Service NDT team based in Tukwila, WA on first shift. Our mission is to develop, implement, and sustain Non-Destructive Evaluation & Measurement technologies and processes for BCA Programs. We aim to be the recognized industry leader in Non Destructive Evaluation solutions that support product lifecycle sustainment and high-rate production. We modernize inspection methods to expand whatโ€™s possible and deliver solutions that ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of Boeing products.

The Nondestructive Testing Customer Support and Emerging Technology team provides certification and qualification services across the value stream for NDE. The team supports commercial and defense aircraft including: 737, 747, 767, 777, 787, KC-46, & B1B. The team works to innovate and mature NDT technology for internal stakeholders and external customers. This team spans the entire product life cycle from product development to active airframe support and post-production test & evaluation.

This team supports diverse non-destructive evaluation and measurement technology applications for commercial and defense products produced or supported by the Company. There is an opportunity to experience different business unit needs and support a diverse selection of commercial and defense aircraft in different phases of their production lifecycle. By working on this team an individual is able to impact programs across the enterprise and have an opportunity to grow a broad network across all of company.

The successful candidate will have a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical audiences, and be a self-starter. There must be a desire to do non-destructive evaluation work and have a general base of NDE knowledge and/or experience. In addition, understanding of basic analysis techniques to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes will be required. Experience in writing non-destructive inspection procedures for commercial and commercial-derivative aircraft is strongly valued.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops NDE procedures in support of airline customer maintenance inspections
  • Designs NDE reference standards in support of inspection procedures
  • Develops engineering specifications and other documents to meet customer needs
  • Assists in evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
  • Assists with development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
  • Performs routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
  • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas

Requirements What you'll need Required Skills:
  • Bachelor, or Master of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
Preferred Skills:
  • 5+ years of aerospace engineering experience
  • 5+ years of NDT experience
  • Experience with CAD systems such as CATIA, Solidworks
  • Experience with NDI systems: ultrasonics, eddy current, radiography
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent skills with various computing systems
  • Excellent documentation and technical writing skills
  • Excellent time management skills to manage several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations
  • Knowledge of materials science with metals and/or composites

Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
