Physical Requirements

Job Summary
We are University of Kentucky's Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic serving pediatric patients ages newborn to 18 years of age. We have 7 pediatric providers, and our clinical team consists of 2 RN's, 1 LPN and 2 Medical assistants caring for a variety of pediatric endocrine disorders.
Diabetes counts for approximately 40% of our patient's diagnosis with the rest a mix of other endocrine disorders as well as offering clinics for weight management, transgender care, thyroid ultrasounds and podiatry. Our clinic staff is a team of 4 RN's, 1 LPN, and 12 Medical Assistants. Our patient volume typically ranges from 160-200 patient visits a day. Within our center we also have a Diabetes Education Center with 13 certified diabetes educators who are responsible for the care of our diabetes patients both as part of their clinic visit or as a separate education visit or class. Our nursing team provides patient care specific to our endocrine patients including but not limited to assessment, patient education, in-basket management, telephone triage and authorizations.
The Nurse Clinical Ambulatory provides disease-specific patient care to patients with serious acute and/or chronic health events or seeking healthcare to maintain their wellness. The position's responsibilities include but are not limited to, skilled assessments, care plans and care plan implementation, patient education, and clinical evaluation or interventions. This position requires working with medical professionals under time and efficiency constraints in a busy ambulatory care setting with a patient-centered care focus on quality, safety, and service.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
A working knowledge of enterprise, nursing, departmental policies, protocols, and procedures is needed to be successful.
