Job description

The University of Virginia Health System (UVA Health) is seeking a fellowship-trained Body Imaging Radiologist to join our Community Division. This role offers the opportunity to practice the full scope of body imaging in a collegial, supportive environment serving Prince William Hospital, Haymarket Medical Center, Culpeper Hospital, Culpeper Outpatient Imaging Center and Gainesville Outpatient Imaging Center. The position combines the advantages of community-based practice with the resources and academic connections of a leading university health system.

The successful candidate will devote approximately 90-95% effort to clinical service and 5-10% to administrative and service activities, with flexibility to adapt as the division evolves.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Interpret a comprehensive range of Body Imaging studies across all major modalities (plain film, CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopic GI/GU exams, and non-vascular image-guided procedures).
  • Refine, expand, and improve clinical services in body imaging and related image-guided procedures.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and provide consultative expertise for referring physicians and technical staff.
  • Collaborate with referring providers to ensure appropriate, high-value use of imaging studies and procedures.
  • Share in the division's clinical schedule and call responsibilities, with occasional coverage at the Culpeper Outpatient Imaging Center.

Service & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, and patient care process enhancements.
  • Participate in peer review, clinical protocol development, and recruitment/marketing initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with technologists, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality imaging protocols and efficient workflow.
  • Promote a culture of collegiality, inclusivity, and respect within the Division and across UVA Health.
  • Support the professional reputation of UVA Radiology in the communities we serve.

Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree; board certified/eligible in Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Fellowship training in Body Imaging.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Strong clinical skills, collaborative mindset, and commitment to patient-centered care.
