What job makes 10,000 a month without a degree?

A non-attorney legal professional, such as a legal consultant or paralegal with specialized skills, can potentially earn $10,000 a month through experience, certifications, and working in high-demand environments. Other high-paying roles without a degree include sales managers, real estate brokers, or skilled trades like electricians or plumbers, especially with experience and a strong client base.

Can you get a JD and not be a lawyer?

A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is primarily designed for those pursuing a career as a licensed attorney, but some individuals with a JD work in legal consulting, compliance, or other non-lawyer roles that do not require bar admission. Holding a JD does not automatically qualify someone to practice law unless they pass the bar exam and obtain licensure, but the degree can also be valuable in various legal-related fields outside of practicing law.

What can I do with a JD other than be a lawyer?

A JD (Juris Doctor) degree qualifies individuals for roles beyond practicing law, such as legal consulting, compliance, policy analysis, or legal writing. Many graduates work in corporate settings, government agencies, or non-profit organizations, often leveraging skills in research, analysis, and communication. Additional certifications or experience may be required for certain positions.

What are jobs in law that aren't lawyers?

Non-attorney legal jobs include roles such as paralegals, legal assistants, legal secretaries, and compliance officers. These positions support legal teams by conducting research, managing documents, and ensuring regulatory adherence, often requiring specialized training or certifications but not a law degree.

Job description

Our client is a $5B real estate private equity firm operating a diversified open-air and urban high-street retail portfolio across major US markets. The firm manages capital through two complementary platforms — a core owned portfolio and an institutional fund business — giving the legal team exposure to the full range of transactional and operational work that comes with both owning and managing assets at scale.

The in-house legal team consists of nine attorneys organized around two functions: transactional (acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and financings) and operational (leasing, asset management, and due diligence). This role sits on the operational side but works in close coordination with transactional counsel, offering a Senior Real Estate Attorney the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of a deal.

What You'll Do

  • Draft, negotiate, and close commercial leasing documents including leases, amendments, assignments, and SNDAs
  • Advise internal teams on lease interpretation, tenant defaults, co-tenancy, and use restriction compliance
  • Handle landlord-side bankruptcy matters including proofs of claim and assumption/rejection proceedings
  • Support acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures alongside transactional counsel
  • Manage outside counsel on operational matters

Qualifications

  • JD with active bar admission
  • 3-8 years of commercial real estate experience; law firm background preferred
  • Substantive leasing experience required; retail real estate experience a plus
  • Exposure to tenant bankruptcies or commercial litigation a plus
  • High-volume deal management capability with sharp drafting skills and sound legal judgment
  • Commercially minded and practical — someone who moves deals forward and communicates clearly with non-lawyers
