Job description

POSTING: Prep / Line Cook

Prep / Line Cook — Hashiri San Francisco | Reopening | $21–$24/hr

Location: 4 Mint Plaza, San Francisco, CA

Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Compensation: $21–$24/hour, depending on experience and qualifications

About Hashiri

“Hashiri” means “the start of the season” — the moment an ingredient reaches its peak, or “shun.” That philosophy has defined our restaurant since we opened, and it earned Hashiri San Francisco Michelin recognition for three consecutive years (2017–2019). We're part of a small, respected family of Hashiri restaurants spanning San Francisco, Tokyo, and New York, and we're now reopening our San Francisco location. We're building a prep and line team to support the kitchen as we rebuild our San Francisco location.

What You'll Do
  • Perform mise en place, prep, cooking, and plating to Hashiri's standards
  • Maintain consistency in quality, portioning, and presentation
  • Handle, label, store, and rotate ingredients properly
  • Keep your station clean, organized, and safe
  • Support opening/closing duties and inventory
What We're Looking For
  • At least 1 year of professional kitchen experience
  • No Japanese cuisine background required — just a real interest in learning it
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and ready to work in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
What You'll Gain
  • Hands-on kitchen experience in a Michelin-recognized restaurant
  • Exposure to both classic Japanese technique and modern/fusion approaches
  • Room to grow into a lead role as we rebuild the team
Benefits

PSL and staff meal included (specific details to be finalized).
