Job Summary


Implement the Production Fulfillment Process steps related to the fabrication of parts according to work order and customer requirements. Ensures machinery is set up, works properly, and conforms with (and can produce materials that conform with) company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards. Operate one or more CNC production machining centers to include but not limited to lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, etc. First of Four levels of CNC machining center operators. Loads and operates numerically controlled machine tools to perform standard and repetitive sequences of operations where programs are provided and setups are made and maintained by higher level operators.


Essential Job Functions


  • Operate multiple types of fabrication equipment:
  • Operates tools according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts.
  • Places and secures work pieces in proper machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface using clamps and wrenches.
  • Load, operate and manufacture a variety of parts using CNC machining centers to make custom parts according to customer orders and instructions written on Work Orders and blue prints
  • Basic recognition of tooling and procedures within established tolerances
  • Complete work order paperwork
  • Checks parts for conformance to customer specifications.
  • Maintain count and perform packaging duties as required
  • Participate in cross training activities to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the department
  • Perform routine daily machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Provide guidance, feedback and positive behavior modeling The Gund Company culture of care:

Requirements:

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Requires the ability to follow written instructions and read blueprint specifications, or equivalent.
  • Perform work independently with minimal defects
  • Communicate with supervisor on work order priority
  • Open to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of parts
  • Basic to intermediate math skills and/or aptitudes
  • Ability to use basic measuring instruments
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed


Education and Experience

  • A High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is required. Prior experience in a manufacturing industry is preferred.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is may be required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment

The work environment is typical of most shop environments; not climate controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions. Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.


  • Frequent exposure to fumes/dust particles; may require use of respirators or other types of PPE.
  • May come in contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
