Job description

RN - Day Surgery Outpatient

This position is a contract role for a Registered Nurse in the Day Surgery Outpatient setting. The assignment duration is for 13 weeks. Work schedule includes day shifts with no call responsibilities and no weekends. The unit consists of 16 beds and has a staffing model of up to 8 RNs and additional support staff. Patient ratios are 2 patients per RN in Preop and up to 3 patients per RN in Phase 2 Postop. The team utilizes a collaborative nursing approach in the postoperative area. RNs are expected to perform preoperative assessments for a wide variety of procedures. This includes open-heart surgeries, port placements, and endoscopy patients. Postoperative responsibilities include discharge education and preparing patients for a safe return home. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, organizational skills, and efficient time management. The ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential for success in this role. The dress code requires navy scrubs, with the option to wear hospital scrubs. This position offers the opportunity to engage with a dynamic team and utilize advanced equipment and technology.
