What is a no experience remote paralegal?

A no experience remote paralegal is an entry-level legal support professional who works from home or another remote location, assisting attorneys with tasks such as legal research, document preparation, and case management. These positions are designed for individuals who may not have prior experience in the legal field but are interested in starting a paralegal career. Employers often provide on-the-job training and look for candidates with strong organizational, communication, and computer skills. Remote paralegals use technology to collaborate with legal teams and manage assignments online. This role offers a flexible work environment and a pathway into the legal industry.

What types of training and support can I expect as a no experience remote paralegal?

As a remote paralegal starting without prior experience, you can generally expect to receive structured onboarding that covers essential legal procedures, document management, and case management software. Many firms offer mentorship from senior paralegals or attorneys, as well as access to online legal research tools and resources. Regular check-ins and feedback sessions are common to ensure your growth and address any challenges you may face while working remotely. You’ll also likely collaborate with attorneys and other paralegals through virtual meetings and project management platforms, fostering a supportive team environment even from a distance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a no experience remote paralegal, and why are they important?

Attention to detail, effective communication, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for working independently and supporting attorneys remotely. These abilities ensure accurate legal support, efficient workflow, and high-quality client service in a remote environment.

Job description

Remote Litigation Paralegal – Employment Law

About the Opportunity
Equivity is seeking an experienced Remote Litigation Paralegal with a strong general civil litigation background and experience supporting employment law matters.

This is an assignment-based opportunity designed for paralegals who value the flexibility of remote work and enjoy supporting a variety of law firms and matters across the country. As client needs evolve, assignments and workload may vary based on business demand. This role is a good fit for an experienced paralegal who values professional flexibility and is comfortable with a workload that can fluctuate rather than requiring a guaranteed number of weekly hours from the outset.

When actively supporting clients, responsiveness is important. Because client needs can arise on short notice, paralegals are expected to remain responsive to their active clients and Equivity managers within one hour during their stated availability.

If you're an experienced litigation paralegal who appreciates autonomy, remote flexibility, and the opportunity to work with multiple legal teams, this assignment-based model may be a strong fit.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Preparing, formatting, proofreading, and revising pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents
  • Supporting employment law and general civil litigation matters throughout the litigation lifecycle
  • Managing discovery, including document collection, organization, review, production, and tracking
  • Preparing and submitting filings in state and federal courts
  • Maintaining litigation calendars, deadlines, case files, and task trackers
  • Assisting with deposition, mediation, hearing, and trial preparation
  • Conducting legal and factual research
  • Coordinating with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other legal professionals
  • Managing multiple active matters while meeting competing deadlines
  • Learning and working across various legal technology platforms and client systems

We are looking for:
  • At least three years of recent paralegal experience
  • Strong experience supporting general civil litigation matters
  • Experience with employment law matters
  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures and electronic filing systems
  • Strong legal writing, proofreading, organization, and document-management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Ability to manage multiple matters, deadlines, and client priorities
  • Comfortable learning and using different legal technology platforms
  • Experience with Clio is a plus
  • Responsiveness within 1 hour during business hours

Compensation and Work Structure
  • W-2 employment
  • Compensation: $26 per hour
  • Assignment-based work with client assignments determined by demand, qualifications, and availability
  • Assignment volume and hours may vary
  • Client assignments may take time to develop and are not guaranteed immediately upon joining

Why Join Equivity?
At Equivity, you will join a nationwide team of experienced legal professionals providing high-quality support to law firms across the country. Our paralegals have the opportunity to perform substantive legal work, build lasting professional relationships, and support clients in their areas of experience.

Benefits may include:
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid sick time
  • Employee discounts
  • Annual performance bonuses
  • Six-month pay reviews with potential hourly increases based on performance
  • Reimbursement of certain business expenses
  • Professional development and advancement opportunities
  • Additional benefits may apply based on eligibility and employment status

Equivity is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
