Job description

Are you an experienced Controls & Automation Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges both remotely and in the field? Do you thrive in a customer-facing role where no two days are the same? If so, we'd love to hear from you.


Our client is an established global industrial technology company seeking a Controls & Automation Engineer to support customers through commissioning, troubleshooting, programming, and ongoing technical service. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of automation projects while collaborating with engineering, project management, and service teams.


Responsibilities

  • Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for customer automation systems.
  • Travel to customer sites to commission equipment, perform startup activities, and troubleshoot existing systems.
  • Conduct I/O testing, production startup support, site acceptance testing (SAT), and customer training.
  • Modify and troubleshoot PLC and SCADA programs.
  • Perform minor electrical control panel modifications as needed.
  • Support Aftermarket Service and Automation teams with technical projects.
  • Assist Project Management with automation-related activities throughout project execution.
  • Develop PLC programs, perform system testing, and prepare technical documentation and user manuals.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on the development and enhancement of new process automation solutions.
  • Provide technical support and knowledge sharing across internal teams.


This position reports to the Service & Installation Manager and works closely with a collaborative engineering and service team. Travel is approximately 10โ€“20%, depending on project needs.


Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting one or more of the following: Rockwell PlantPAx, Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, or Siemens Step 7.
  • Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working directly with customers both remotely and onsite.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required.
