Job description

  • FDC Servers is a global dedicated-server and IP-transit provider (AS30058) with 25+ years in the industry, operating across 28+ data centers worldwide with 100 Tbps of installed uplink capacity. Los Angeles is one of our largest US sites - most of our LA infrastructure sits at Equinix LA3, with additional presence at Equinix LA1 and CoreSite LA2.

We are moving away from rotating third-party remote-hands vendors toward one dedicated local technician per major site - someone who knows our racks, our cable runs, and our inventory inside and out, rather than a different pair of hands every visit.

Location: Los Angeles, California. On-site, primarily at Equinix LA3, with occasional work at Equinix LA1 and CoreSite LA2.

Engagement: Freelance / independent contractor, approximately 80 hours per month on average.

What you'd do:

Rack, stack, and cable Dell, HP, Supermicro, and ASUS/ASRock Rack servers

Handle drive, NIC, RAM, and PSU swaps and component-level troubleshooting with our remote engineering team

Manage incoming shipments and cross-connects between LA3, LA1, and CoreSite LA2

Keep cages organized - cabling labeled, spares documented, clear inventory

Respond to tickets within agreed SLA

Work with our remote engineers via Google Chat during sessions

What we're looking for:

Already on-site at LA3, LA1, CoreSite LA2, or other Los Angeles data centers

Strong cabling discipline

Server hardware experience (component-level troubleshooting, not just racking)

Comfortable with Juniper switches, 10G/100G/400G optics and DACs, and various NIC brands (Intel, Mellanox, Broadcom)

What we offer:

Approximately 80 hours per month at a competitive hourly rate, by agreement and based on experience

Direct relationship with FDC ownership - no agency, no middleman

Monthly invoicing, paid net 15

Long-term stability - no more rotating vendors

Compatible with other freelance work at other sites

To apply: send a short message with your relevant experience and Los Angeles availability to hr@fdcservers.net with the subject line "LA3 Los Angeles - Remote Hands".
