Description
The City of Danbury is announcing an opening for the position of Part-time Clerk- Library
Essential Functions:
Provides engaged and friendly customer service at all library public service desks, including Information Services, Junior, and Technology. Performs routine circulation desk duties, including but not limited to:
  • Using an automated library circulation system to check materials in and out to patrons of all ages.
  • Greeting patrons
  • Reserving material
  • Issuing library cards
  • Answering phones and directing calls
  • Assisting patrons with locating library material, registering for programs, and utilizing computers, copiers, printers, and self-check systems.
  • Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Lending Services Manager, but the candidate will also work with the Head of Reference and Senior Computer Technician.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have computer and peripheral skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office,email, copy and fax machines, telephones, printers and scanners. Must be proficient with basic computer software such as Microsoft Office and Google suite. At least one year of customer service experience is required. Position requires standing, sitting, and bending for periods of time. Bilingual English/Spanish/Portuguese preferred.
Hours: Up to 19 hours per week. Three shifts during the week of either 10 am - 3 pm, or 3 pm - 8 pm, and Saturday from 10-2.
