Job description

The City of South Portland, an inclusive and forward thinking community of 25,000+ located on Casco Bay is currently seeking candidates to fill a part-time (15 hours per week) Library Aide position.
Position Summary: The Library Aide will participate mostly in the Adult Services areas of the library, however, all Library Aide positions will perform functions throughout the library and across all library departments as needed. The position is based out of our main library location, but may involve work hours at our branch location as well. Work schedule will include regular evening and weekend hours. The selected candidate must have the ability to demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
This position reports to the Head of Adult Services. This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Education: Bachelor's degree highly preferred. High School diploma required.
Experience: Previous public library or other related customer service experience is required. Familiarity with automated library circulation systems is preferred.
Must have flexibility to work evening and/or weekend hours.

Starting wage range: $20.11 - 22.92 per hour depending on experience. The position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council. This is a non-benefit eligible position.
